Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab Qasim Chohan requested the top court to direct relevant authorities to place Mansh Bomb’s name and those of his sons on the Exit Control List (ECL) while the State Bank of Pakistan has also been requested for freezing their bank accounts.
The apex court had earlier taken a suo motu notice on an application of an overseas Pakistani, Mahmood Ashraf, seeking for the court’s support on police’s reluctance to take action against the ‘land grabber’, who had allegedly seized the applicant’s property.
After the top court’s order, a six-member special team was constituted by the DIG investigation Lahore.
The Punjab police report also informed the court that they were obtaining information regarding lockers owned by Mansha Bomb in different banks. It also stated that the chairman Punjab Cooperative Liquidation Board, the chief settlement commissioner Rehabilitation Department, all administrative secretaries of the Government of Punjab, the deputy commissioner Lahore and the director general Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have been requested for provision of record regarding groups involved in illegal occupations of private and public land.
Meanwhile, the special police team has been directed to finalise investigation of the cases against Mansha Bomb on merit. The officers were also directed to coordinate with all concerned departments in order to collect evidence and relevant record for a comprehensive investigation.
SC orders arrest of ‘land grabber’ Mansha Bomb placing him, sons on ECL
According to the special team, the record of Mansha Bomb’s office has been examined which revealed that 66 cases of heinous nature have been registered against him and his sons namely Tariq, Faisal, Amir and Waqas – all residing in Johar Town, Lahore. Out of these 66 cases, 19 are of illegal occupation or attempt to occupy land illegally, while possession has been restored to legal owners in all these cases.
It added that a list of various properties or lands – measuring a total of 2,041 kanals and 8 marlas valuing Rs3,060 million which Mansha Bomb and his sons had illegally occupied – has been cleared during an anti-encroachment drive. It added that about 32 kanals of encroached land has been retrieved to its actual owner, the LDA.
During the investigation of a case, Rs4.29 million cash, gold ornaments weighing 1837.92 grams and illegal weapons such as rifle pump action 12 bore, one 9mm pistol, two 30-bore pistols and 225 magazine of different kinds along with 243 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused, which were taken into custody.
The report also revealed that Mansha Bomb, his son Asim and brother-in-law Haider Ali were produced before the court where physical remand of the accused persons has been obtained.
