KARACHI: After a few days of power-filled action, the operation to clear Saddar and Empress Market of encroachments slowed down on Saturday. The operation slowed down after shopkeepers of illegal markets around Empress Market staged protests and sit-ins. On Saturday, shops were closed but only a few protestors were seen in protest camps. While the operation at the motorcycle market of Akbar Road took place, only a few encroachments were pulled down. Many of the erected footpaths and illegal boards were left untouched. Gradually, each and every illegal structure will reportedly be razed, as per the orders of the Supreme Court.
