According to the finance minister’s written reply, 15 cases collectively worth Rs10.9 billion were in the final stage of the investigation. The authorities had managed to recover Rs6.2 billion.

Elaborating measures taken by the government, Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar said the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) had acquired financial records of 96,000 Pakistanis abroad. The accounts also included those mentioned in Panama Leaks.

He blamed the previous government of shying from launching an investigation against 242 named in the leaks. “The Imran Khan-led government has initiated inquiries,” he added.
