Iqbal Day

Letter November 09, 2018
Dr Iqbal was a prominent Muslim leader, philosopher and poet of the subcontinent

DADU: The nation observes Iqbal day with enthusiasm and devotion on November 9 ever year to remember Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He was born on November 9, 1877 in Sialkot. Dr Iqbal was a prominent Muslim leader, philosopher and poet of the subcontinent. He did not only envision Pakistan as a separate state for Muslims but also played a key role in its formation. The poet of the East awakened and unified the Muslims of the subcontinent through his inspiring poetry. Dr Iqbal’s Allahabad address of 1930 is also well known particularly in the subcontinent where he said that he would like to see Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and the NWFP now (K-P) merged into a single state. However, Dr Iqbal could not see the realisation of his dream as he passed away on April 21, 1938. After his death, it was Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Founder of the Nation) under whose guidance and leadership Pakistan came into being on August 14, 1947. The nation will always remember Dr Iqbal for his services to the nation.
