Architectural engineering

One of the most essential fields of study for a developing country like Pakistan

MAKRAN, KECH: Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing and constructing buildings or any other structures, such as dams. Despite its significant importance, Pakistan fails to pay attention to architecture engineering.

Recently, a friend of mine who was studying at Gwadar Institute of Technology became disappointed and left studying architecture engineering due to the lack of opportunities and as well as lack of scope in the market of this particular field.

However, it is one of the most essential fields of study for a developing country like ours. With the help of professional architects we can plan and construct our cities that could resemble the ones in the developed world.

It is unfortunate to realise that even with a relatively mild earthquake big buildings or bridges collapse in the developing world and Pakistan is part of this. The main cause of this is the lack of professional architects in the country.

It is time our policymakers understood the importance of this profession and devised a plan to encourage our youth to consider opting for architecture engineering as a career choice. Simultaneously, universities teaching architecture should be provided with study material and equipment of international standard.
