Shehbaz's remand extended till Nov 10

Shehbaz scheduled to attend NA session on Nov 9

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad extended the transit remand for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.

The former chief minister was arrested in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and his case is being heard by an accountability court in Lahore.

However, he has been residing in the Ministers Enclave since last week after the anti-graft body declared the premises a sub-jail.



When NAB presented Shehbaz before the court, Judge Mohammad Bashir inquired why the remand plea was brought to him as he was not hearing the case. The prosecutor informed the judge that the anti-graft body required an extension in transit remand till November 12 as the opposition leader was scheduled to attend a National Assembly session on November 9.



Shehbaz, however, requested the court to allow extension till November 10. Accepting the PML-N president’s plea, the court extended transit remand till the requested date.

After the hearing, Shehbaz walked over to Judge Mohammad Arshad Malik’s courtroom to meet his brother, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The two also briefly conversed with other PML-N leaders.

Nawaz is appearing in the Flagship reference case.
