In September, the Chagai deputy commissioner had written a letter to the provincial government seeking its immediate attention towards drought in the district but to no avail.
According to the district administration, the area has been under a severe grip of drought for many years while hundreds of heads of cattle have died and people have been suffering from malnutrition.
More than 7,000 families have been affected by recent drought and forced to migrate to other cities.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had departed relief goods comprising food items and tents for 3,000 families last week but the distribution of ration is yet to be started among the affected families.
