‘Thugs of Hindostan’ cleared for release in Punjab

Central and Sindh film censor boards are yet to issue their clearance certificates

LAHORE: Bollywood film Thugs of Hindostan is one of the most-anticipated films of now - courtesy its diverse plot, magnificent costumes and the Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan collaboration of course.

Cinema owners have been gearing up for its release and stakeholders are hoping for it to surpass profit garnered from Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. So, it’s safe to say that expectations are high.

The Punjab Film Censor Board (PFCB) cleared the film for its November 8 release all around the province. The board issued a universal certificate as no objectionable content was found within the film.

"The committee has viewed Thugs of Hindostan and the members unanimously decided on issuing a universal certificate as they found nothing against our policy,” a PFCB official told The Express Tribune.

The Central Board of Film Cencors (CBFC) will hold a meeting today while the Sindh Film Censor Board will hold its gathering tomorrow.

It is important to mention here that distributors and cinema owners have very high hopes for the upcoming pirate thriller. They believe that revenue garnered will be sky high and it will be one of the biggest blockbusters yet, from a business point of view.

Promotional campaigns have been ongoing for the last two weeks and distributors are optimistic that the film will be screened at numerous cinemas across the nation.



“Although an uncut version of Thugs of Hindostan will be released in Punjab, we are yet to receive clearance certificates from other boards. We want to see this film screened at 105 cinemas in Pakistan, which include both modern and traditional cinemas,” said a senior Distributions Club official.

Helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs of Hindustan stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh among Bachchan and Khan.
