RAWALPINDI: With the advent of winter in the countryit is usually the best time to enjoy delicious dry fruits.

Dry fruit shops in federal capital city are witnessing a tremendous rush of customers who want to buy variety of dried fruits as eating dry fruit is one of the favorite passtimes of the people during the season.Demand for dry fruits increases as a biting chill creeps into the air, From a wide variety of dry fruits available in the capital they are known as the "charm of winter season."

People buy different types of dried fruits and arrange them in beautiful dishes and put those dishes on the floor for guests.  The tradition of relatives, friends and neighbors visiting each other during winter and dried fruits are synonymous with good hospitality, said a customer Javed Ali.

Gifting people a big basket of dried fruits and chocolates is one of the most interesting ideas said a 19 year old customer Asma Shah. According to shoppers around this time, just ahead of the winter, the price of dried fruits like almonds, raisins, mulberry, apricot, cashew, pistachio and fig soars as demand increases.

A resident Noman Sayed said that no one in winter can resist dry fruits and the nuts; that are the real treat and the perfect gift of nature. As soon as winter approachs, you will see stalls of dry fruits all around the streets and markets.

Gossiping and chatting over a having a hand full of dry fruits in the chilly winters become a perfect idea of a small party with the friends and family members, he added.Many doctors and nutritionists give advice to their patients to use dry fruits for better and complete diet."Children, particularly, prefer to have these nuts in winter," said Shazia a mother.

Walnuts are part of the dry fruit family which are blessed with such natural qualities which can have multiple beneficial health effects on hair and skin .
