Anti-encroachment drive begins in two days in Karachi

A task force will be formed to remove encroachments

KARACHI: A task force will be formed to remove encroachments in Saddar and the roads leading to Empress Market to make it a model area and pedestrian only zone in the city.

According to a press statement issued by the commisioner's office, a high level meeting held in this regard on Saturday, decided to initiate a full operation after establishing a task force comprising officers from concerned organisations to monitor and remove encroachments in this area.

SC orders provinces to reclaim ‘encroached land’

A notification in this regard will be issued in the next two days and all encroachments inside and from the surrounding area of Empress Market in Saddar will be removed in three weeks.

The land grabbers will also be identified and arrested before the operation and the entire area from Naveed Clinic to Lucky Star will be made encroachment free.
