NEW YORK: US Representative Anthony Weiner admitted on Monday to sending a lewd photo of himself to a 21-year-old female college student over his Twitter account after previously denying he had done so.
Weiner, a New York Democrat and a leading liberal voice in the U.S. House of Representatives who was expected to run for mayor of New York City in 2013, also admitted to inappropriate Internet and telephone conversations with about six women but said none of them developed into a physical relationship. “I’m deeply regretting what I have done and I’m not resigning,” Weiner told a news conference. “The picture was of me and I sent it,” he said.
