RAWALPINDI:
A medico-legal report of a child maid* has proved that she had been tortured while the husband of the main suspect in the case has been arrested after he withdrew his bail application.

On Friday, the investigation officer for the torture of the 11-year-old child maid submitted the medico-legal report in the court which confirms torture.

The report confirmed that the girl had suffered torture while working as a child maid at a house in Wilayat Colony area of Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, Dr Mohsin Riaz — the husband of the prime accused in the case, surrendered himself to the police.

Dr Riaz had secured pre-arrest bail from a District and Sessions Court on October 21 against surety bonds worth Rs50,000. However, on Friday, he withdrew his application for the bail. Subsequently, the police arrested him and shifted him to the Airport police station.

He is expected to be presented before a court on Saturday to obtain his physical remand so that he can be questioned.

Meanwhile, police officers claimed that his wife, prime accused Dr Ammara, is being legally prosecuted by the government institution she works for.

On October 20, the police had booked Dr Riaz and his wife Dr Ammara after videos and images of a child maid allegedly tortured at their residence went viral.

Initial medical examinations had shown that she had been tortured multiple times over an extended period of time with multiple torture marks visible on various parts of her face and body with some of the marks dating as far back as 15-20 days.

Rawalpindi Chief Police Officer Abbas Ahsan had told a news conference that there appeared to be a deep wound on her head which had signs of three stitches while the girl cannot move her arm freely.

Later, while recording her statement before civil judge Sameera Alamgir, the 11-year-old narrated amid sobs shocking tales of torture including being burnt using hot irons and being beaten such that her head split open, requiring stitches.
