After 15 years: IBCC still not given autonomous status
The Ministry has drafted a legislation to grant autonomous status to IBCC and sent it for approval to the cabinet
ISLAMABAD:
The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen [IBCC], a department under the Ministry for Interprovincial Affairs, could not be given autonomous status even after 15 years of its formation. Consequently, hundreds of thousands of students have been seeing increasing difficulties in getting equivalence certifications from IBCC. Sources say that the Management Services Wing of the establishment has been directed to take immediate steps to uplift the institution and bring it in line with modern standards. The Ministry has drafted a legislation to grant autonomous status to IBCC and sent it for approval to the cabinet. However, the draft was returned to the Ministry because of its incompletion and now the task remains unaddressed even after 15 years of IBCC. According to a senior officer at IBCC, if given autonomy, the institution would make use of computerised systems to provide verification and equivalence certification for students.
