RAWALPINDI: An Adiala Jail telephone operator was arrested on Thursday for allegedly selling heroin to prisoners in the correctional facility.

Mansoor Akbar, the Rawalpindi jail's superintendent, said that Ahizar Riaz, the accused, was caught red handed selling the hard drug to inmates.

According to Adiala Jail SP, a crackdown has been launched against those selling drugs in the prison under his supervision.

Two Adiala Jail officials suspended over sexual harassment charges

A case has been registered against the accused with an investigation into the matter underway.

On August 26, two assistant superintendents of the same jail along with a warder had been suspended over sexually harassing a fellow officer.

AS Moazzam Ali and Warder Bilal had allegedly attempted to rape another warder, identified as Safdar.

In view of this the IG Adiala prison had ordered the suspension of the two officers for a three-month period.

The culprits attempted to sexually harass Safdar.

The jail’s SSP carried out a probe into the matter after which the incident was brought into the notice of the IG Jail.
