PM Imran forms committee to tackle law and order situation

Information minister will brief the media later today

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday authorised the formation of a committee to tackle the prevailing security situation in the country following the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Aasia Bibi case, Express News reported.

The decision was made during the federal cabinet's weekly meeting chaired by the prime minister at the PM Office ahead of his maiden official visit to China. The cabinet discussed the law and order, political and economic matters.

Sources said the committee will be headed by PM Imran and comprise Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

According to Radio Pakistan, the information minister will brief the media about the decisions made in the cabinet meeting later today.

It is pertinent to note that the premier is scheduled to leave for China later on Thursday. He will be holding important meetings with the Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. The countries will deliberate over bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
