SC acquits Aasia Bibi after eight years in prison

The Supreme Court on Wednesday acquitted Aasia Bibi ÔÇô a Christian woman accused of blasphemy in 2010 and sentenced to death ÔÇô and set aside an earlier judgment passed by a lower court.
The judgment was reserved on October 8. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel directed authorities to release Aasia Bibi from prison.
The verdict was authored by Justice Khosa.
