ISLAMABAD: Mobile phone and internet services as well as the GPRS facility remain suspended in many parts of the country today (Tuesday) on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

The suspension by the Ministry of Interior comes in the wake of requests made by governments in the four provinces as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In Punjab, the mobile and internet services are suspended in Lahore, Nankana, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan and Rahim Yar Khan.

In case of Sindh, the two services are also non-operational in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad and Shikarpur while in K-P, the districts of Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Abbottabad are devoid of the services.

The services are also suspended in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, and various parts of AJK such as Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Mirpur, Haveli and Kotli.

The services are, however, operational in Islamabad.
