RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench has accepted for hearing a petition regarding lease of Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) plot to a commercial college.

Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf suspended the lease of 34 Kanal land near Dhok Dalal for construction of commercial college on cheaper rates for 30 year by former chairperson of EPTB Siddiqul Farooq.

The bench also issued notices to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and EPTB demanding reply within two-weeks.

EPTB is the custodian of the properties of minorities and their worship places after most of them left the country during partition in 1947.

Besides they also ordered the lease holder not to take any stay order on this decision and stop the construction on the said property.

Sardar Abdul Razzaq Advocate in his petition stated that the 34 kanal land costs approximately Rs5 billion but former chairman of EPTB leased it out for 30 years for Rs3 million.

Moreover, Farooq had not even presented his decision for clearance before the EPTB board, the petitioner told the court.
