Traders oppose random balloting

MULTAN: Finance Minister Asad Umar has disclosed that the government is considering a proposal to allow more traders to import cellphones in a bid to end the monopoly of a particular section of importers. Addressing a 50-member delegation of the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, headed by its President Muhammad Ajmal Baloch, the finance minister accepted their demand to publish income tax return forms and the SROs in the national language to facilitate the traders. Members of the delegation told media at the Multan Press Club that the finance minister had assured them of considering a proposal seeking exemption for withholding tax payers from the drive to increase the number of tax return filers. The traders opposed random balloting for tax audit describing it as another door for corruption.
