Ill-maintained metro bus line

A bridge of the metro bus line in Lahore collapsed recently

ISLAMABAD: The metro bus system that took years to build in Islamabad is already crumbling. In less than five years after it became operational one can see visible cracks or potholes on roads.

While the initiative is praiseworthy and has greatly helped the public, especially those who cannot afford the luxury of online ride hailing services, one cannot ignore the fact that its crumbling state could pose dangers to those using it.

A bridge of the metro bus line in Lahore collapsed recently. The bridge was built only a few years ago. We do not expect to face the same in Islamabad.

So the provincial government should work towards maintaining the bus line. The issue should not be politicised. The provincial government should allocate funds for maintenance of the transport system.
