Transfers and postings: Capital’s top cop removed

The notification, however, did not immediately name Muhammad’s successor

ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday evening sent Islamabad Police’s Inspector General Jan Muhammad packing. The basic pay scale (BPS) grade 20 officer of the Police Services of Pakistan (PSP) was directed to report to the Establishment Division, a notification issued by the division read.  The notification, however, did not immediately name Muhammad’s successor. Separately, the Punjab government transferred the Rawalpindi Jail Deputy Inspector General Naveed Rauf. According to a notification, he has been directed to report to the police headquarters in Lahore immediately. No successor was announced for the post.
