A traffic police official fined a Saudi consulate vehicle in Karachi's red zone after it was found driving without a registration number plate, reported Express News.

According to the sub-inspector, the Saudi consulate vehicle was stopped and questioned about the non-existent number plate. The driver produced number plates from inside the vehicle, saying that the only reason of the car lacking them was security risks.

As the two engaged in the conversation, a man on the passenger seat of the car made the official talk to an influential person over the phone in order to pressurise him to let the vehicle go.

However, the sub-inspector fined the vehicle with Rs520 for violating the traffic law, and only allowed it to leave once the penalty was paid.

Earlier, on October 15, a motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a vehicle reportedly belonging to the US consulate.

The incident occurred in the PIDC area of the port city. The injured motorcyclist, Abdul Jabbar, was shifted to a local hospital for medical treatment after suffering minor injuries. A large number of people had gathered at the site of the incident. The car was being driven by a foreign female employee of the consulate.
