Advertising hazards: 2 men escape kidnappers in encounter

The men were called for an interview on pretext of employment.

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two men who were abducted on the pretext of employment, freed themselves after attacking their abductors on Sunday.

In Sindh and Punjab’s border area Nawazabad, four men were seriously injured due to an armed encounter between robbers and two men trying to escape.

Residents and Bhong Police reached the area after hearing gun shots. The injured Mazhar and Rub Nawaz were taken to a Basic health unit in Jamaldin Wali on Friday evening. The kidnappers, Nazra Chang, Majeeda Chauhan were arrested by police officials. Mazhar and Nawaz told police that they contacted the kidnappers after reading a job advertisement in a national newspaper. “We thought we were going for a job interview but they gagged us and started calling our families for ransom money,” Mazhar said.
