Ayub Medical College’s (AMC) Dr Mewish Tariq, who works in the anatomy department, was in her room when she suffered an epileptic episode and fell onto a gas-powered heater at around 12:30am.

She was rushed to the emergency ward of the AMC for treatment where Dr Shahbaz Ali Khan conducted the tracheotomy while Dr Ayesha Khan, under the supervision of Plastic Surgeon Dr Hamid Fazeel, dressed her wounds.
Doctors said that she was in critical condition since over 60 per cent of her body had suffered burns.

After her condition stabilized in the AMC’s intensive care unit (ICU), she was shifted to the burns unit in Combined Medical Hospital Kharian.
With her condition still precarious, the Edhi Centre in Islamabad offered the facility of an air ambulance. However, health officials decided to shift her by road.
