Slow revelations about Khashoggi’s death

Saudi Arabia finally admits the journalist died inside the consulate after two weeks

LAHORE: Saudi Arabia has after almost two weeks of Jamal Khashoggi went missing from its consulate in Turkey has admitted that the journalist died inside the consulate. Its official news agency was reported as saying that Khashoggi died during a fist fight that broke out between him and some Saudi officials inside the premises of the consulate.

However, it has not mentioned anything beyond that. What was the reason behind the fight? Where is Khashoggi’s body? More importantly, why did it take 17 days for the Kingdom to know what had happened inside the premises of its consulate?

It is no secret that KSA has frequently violated human rights as it goes on curbing freedom of speech and putting activists and journalists behind bars.

The Khashoggi episode — if true according to the findings of Turkish investigations — will only go a step further and show the true face of KSA’s allies — the US and the EU — which raise a hue and cry over other (read: non-ally) countries for violating human rights and pledging to teach them a lesson. These allies have done little so far than only providing lip service.
