At least four children injured after firing on Quetta school

QUETTA: At least four students were injured in an incident of firing at a government school in Quetta on Wednesday.

The armed men, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at the main entrance of Danish Kadah Public School in Shabu Kali area and fled, according to the police. The assailants used TT pistols.

A heavy contingent of law-enforcement agencies as well as rescue workers reached the spot and shifted the injured children to Civil Hospital Quetta. According to the doctors, the students had received bullets in their legs and are in a stable condition.

Speaking about the incident, Quetta Assistant Commissioner Sania Safi said, “Students of third and fourth standard were playing inside the school when the attackers fired bullets at the school gate which was locked.”

The assistant commission said that the terrorists would have entered the school if the gates of the school had not been closed.

No group has so far claimed the responsibility of the attack. Saddar Police Station lodged the First Information Report (FIR) against unknown persons and started investigation.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan strongly condemned the firing incident on the school and directed the security forces to arrest those involved. The CM also directed the Health department to provide all treatment facilities to the injured children.

Home Minister Mir Saleem Khosa also condemned the attack on the school and ordered the authorities to probe the incident.

“The culprits behind the attack will be brought to justice,” said the minister in a statement. He added that the government would not allow anyone to disturb the peace in Balochistan.
