Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari on Wednesday expressed intent to invite the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for a visit to AJK to highlight conditions prevalent in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK).

Addressing a seminar, Mazari cited Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) report on occupied Kashmir which revealed “impunity for human rights violations and lack of access to justice”.

She said the OHCHR had detailed the atrocities committed by Indian occupational forces and the report on human rights violations in IoK is credible which exposes the true face of India.

The human rights minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Kashmir cause and the right to self-determination. Mazari urged for dialogue between the neighbouring countries. She also called on India to hold talks with the Kashmiri leadership to resolve issues. “War and talks cannot go hand in hand,” she said.
