Police shoot two motorcyclists to death after ‘evading’ Swabi checkpoint

Police personnel suspended with case also registered against them

SWABI: Two motorcyclists were allegedly killed by police fire after failing to stop at a checkpost in Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Junaid Khan and Mehran Khan, who were on their way back home when police opened fire on them for failing to stop at the Sherabad checkpoint on the Swabi-Jhangira road.

As a result, Junaid died on the spot with Mehran succumbed to bullet wounds at the hospital.

District Police Officer Swabi Syed Khalid Hamdani suspended the Police checkpoint in-charge Zahif Nawaz Khan, as well as, constables Yasir, Hazrat Wali and Tufail.

Moreover, the accused police personnel have been taken into custody.

The deceased were laid to rest at their ancestral village.

Hamdani and Lahore's District Police Officer attended the funeral prayer and have assured the victims families that strict action would be taken against the accused persons.
