'Misappropriation' of food ration for inmates unearthed at Adiala

LAHORE: In a shocking development, a corruption scandal has surfaced pertaining to theft of grocery items provisioned for inmates of Adiala jail.

Senior clerk at the prison, Javed Iqbal claimed that storekeeper Ahmed Hassan in collusion with jail superintendent Mansoor Akbar have been stealing the rice, sugar, cooking oil and tea among other food items from the official ration for inmates.

Iqbal claimed that a red-colour Suzuki pickup, registration plate RIL-2858, is seen taking the mentioned food items under the guise of sacks of 'left-over bread' to a nearby storage of contractor Raja Mazhar.

He claimed Hassan and Akbar have made millions by stealing from the official ration for inmates and are maintaining a lavish lifestyle that includes foreign trips and their children studying in expensive schools.

Iqbal said he was given a tough time for denying to be part of the nexus.

It may be mentioned that Akbar is already facing charges of corruption worth Rs20.25 million.
