The show opened up with the leading ladies talking about their box office success. While Deepika fought long and hard for the release of Padmaavat, Alia shared that she knew Raazi would top the charts. But of course, the segment was followed by some juicy details about their personal lives. Here are five highlights from the first episode of Koffee with Karan season six.
1. Friendship
The two revealed that they got comfortable with each other when they attended a Coldplay concert together in Europe two years ago. Speaking of Alia's relationship with Ranbir Kapoor - who Deepika once dated - the two agreed that nothing is awkward between them. Recalling a recent gathering where the two were present with their respective boyfriends, the bonafide beauties said that everyone has accepted the change and learnt to move on from the past. They added that they don't hold on to negativity and give each other the respect they deserve.
2. Love life
Since both of them are in stable relationships, they were asked who would get married first. Obviously, the two pointed to each other but Deepika later confessed that she would tie the knot sooner than Alia. Earlier the same day, the Om Shanti Om actor had announced that she and Ranveer Singh were to wed on November 14 so her confession on the show didn't come as a surprise. However, she corrected Karan that she has been dating Ranveer for about six years as opposed to his assumption of five.
3. Burp!
Alia strikes again! In her Koffee with Karan debut back in 2014, the Udta Punjab actor stunned crowds with her general knowledge. She was asked to name the then President of India and her wrong answer instantly became a meme. She vowed to never make such mistakes again, which she hasn't, but during last night's episode, she burped. This led Karan and Deepika to throw a laughter fit debating if she actually just burped on national television.
4. Phone a lead actress
In a game round, Deepika and Alia were asked to call any lead actress in Bollywood and make them say, "Hey Karan, it's me." Deepika didn't have anyone's number except Alia's so she kept calling her throughout. The 25-year-old star in turn called Sonakshi Sinha and won the round while Deepika dialled Shah Rukh Khan's number but failed to get the message across. Looks like the bride-to-be doesn't have a lot of female friends in the industry.
5. It's all about family
During the same game, the girls were asked to show a picture of themselves with a family member. Deepika opted to show a picture with Ranveer while Alia revealed one with her mother. While the Tamasha actor was quick in her response, it wasn't counted as Ranveer is not a part of her family yet.
The episode ended on a good note with Alia taking the hamper home and showed a glimpse of next week's guests Ranveer and Akshay Kumar.
