QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly has constituted an 11-member parliamentary committee to discuss the five-year lease extension of Saindak-Copper Gold Project to a Chinese company with the federal government.

The committee had been authorized to raise the matter at the federal level with the authorities concerned.

Earlier, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M)’s Sanaullah Baloch had raised the issue in the Balochistan Assembly. The assembly expressed serious concern at being ignored by the federal government in the decision to extend the lease.

Sanaullah Baloch said the federal government and the Chinese company were receiving 50 per cent share each in the profit of the project.

“The federal government is paying 30 percent share to Balochistan out of its 50 per cent share and is keeping the remainder,” Baloch added.
