Tall promises : Sindh to get ‘world-class forensic laboratory’

Provincial adviser talks about need for well-equipped lab for investigations

KARACHI: The Sindh government is establishing a state-of-the-art forensic laboratory, Adviser to the Chief Minister for Information, Law and Anti-corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Sunday. He added that a feasibility and technical report of the project has been formulated.

Wahab was speaking to a delegation of journalists. He rejected the notion that facilities of forensic laboratories were not available in Sindh and said that forensic investigation and research were conducted at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, however it was not equipped with the latest tools.

Barrister Wahab said that the Sindh government has decided to establish a well-equipped forensic laboratory in Malir district. He said that demarcation of land has been completed, while funds have also been allocated for the plan. Barrister Wahab said that within the next two-and-half years, Sindh government will deliver a precious institution in the shape of the Sindh Forensic Laboratory to the people of the province.

He added, “Lahore’s forensic laboratory merely conducts DNA tests, while Sindh Forensic Laboratory will be equipped with latest equipment available in the world to conduct all kinds of scientific investigations.”

He claimed that arrangements have also been made for the upgradation and extension of the laboratory for future.

The provincial adviser said that establishment of the laboratory was carried out as per the vision of the Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and added that everyone residing in Pakistan could get services from this laboratory.

Dr. Shafi Muhammad Nizamani | 6 years ago | Reply This is a misleading and totally wrong statement. Sindh Forensic lab is doing nothing except issuing the wrong reports so much so in charge in an unqualified and inexperienced person.
