Report writers at precincts briefed about recording statements of traumatised victims

ABBOTTABAD: A Women and Children Help Desk has been established at the district level by the District Police Officer to specifically cater to problems faced by women and children.

The purpose of the initiative is to provide a quick forum of justice to vulnerable women and children whose problems are often not even heard, said Abbottabad DPO Abbas Majeed Marwat while addressing a one day orientation seminar arranged for the moharrars (report writers) of all the police stations of the district.

Additional SP Sonia Shamroz, Women and Children Protection Desk In-charge DSP Nazia Noreen and Dispute Resolution Committee Member Advocate Rabia Sultana briefed the participants about the procedure and methodology to sort out the ways and means for addressing issues faced by women and children especially in land disputes.

The report writers of the precincts were briefed about recording statements of traumatised victims. They were also briefed about the salient features of the Child Protection Act and other laws made for the protection of women’s rights.

The moharrars were told that assistant commissioner of Abbottabad was given the task for hearing the cases of women and children desk and it was decided that progress of the desk will be reviewed every 15 days.
