Economic difficulties of Pakistan have been increasing by the day

KARACHI: Economic difficulties of Pakistan have been increasing by the day. The government is imposing new taxes, it is to approach the IMF for a bailout package, and the rupee continues getting weaker against the US dollar. Is it because of our habit of living beyond means and corruption? The 19th century English novelist Charles Dickens has written somewhere: “Annual income: Twenty pounds: Annual expenditure: Nineteen pounds, nineteen shillings, and six pence. Result: happiness. Annual income: Twenty pounds: Annual expenditure: Twenty pounds, ought, and six. Result: misery.
