Safety issues: ITP issued tickets to 2,900 motorists

The education teams also visited institutions and delivered lectures as how to ensure safe road environment

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), during the current year, has taken action against 142,800 bikers for not wearing helmets and 2,900 motorists for rash driving. SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed said DSPs in all zones were directed to ensure strict action against those violating traffic rules. Special squads have been constituted which are performing duties at important avenues and boulevards of the city. Along with, police teams from education wing remained present on important roads and gave safety tips to road users. The education teams also visited educational institutions of the country and delivered lectures as how to ensure safe road environment in the city. SSP Rasheed said such punitive measures were not taken to cause any encumbrance to the capital’s residents but to ensure safety of the lives of road users. He appealed to the parents not to allow underage youth to drive and ride vehicles.
