8 women dead, several injured as train hits rickshaw in Kashmore

Eight women died, while as many sustained injures as a passenger train hit a rickshaw at an unmanned crossing in Kandhkot, Kashmore on Tuesday.

The Khushhal Khan Khattak collided with the passenger vehicle carrying 15 travelers at the Haibat Shaheed railway station at around 1:30pm.

According to railways spokesperson, six women died on the spot. The injured include two women, five children and a man. The official said people have been advised again and again to cross the unmanned level crossing carefully as it is without any gate.

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed expressed heartfelt grief over the loss of precious lives in the collision. The federal minister prayed Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in peace and grant patience to the bereaved family members for bearing this irreparable loss with equanimity.

Last month, two people were injured when eight bogeys of Khushal Khan Khattak Express derailed near Sehwan. The train was travelling from Karachi to Peshawar. More than 10 other buses were also damaged in the accident.

Afsoos Ali | 6 years ago | Reply It's mind boggling why even educated and professional people are seen running ahead of the train thinking if they wait for the train to pass the world will leave them behind or they'll take less bread to home to kids. Not thinking they might even kill their only hope for the bread by killing their breadwinner on the oncoming train's path.
