ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has called on the government to focus on renewable energy as the country has tremendous potential to generate power through these sources. “Renewable energy will bring multiple benefits for the economy,” ICCI President Ahmed Hassan Moughal said in a statement. “It will reduce the cost of doing business, promote industrialisation, encourage investment, create plenty of new jobs and enhance exports.” The ICCI chief emphasised that renewable energy sources including wind and solar were getting key focus at the global level as they were sustainable sources of energy at an affordable cost. He pointed out that the installed capacity of solar and wind power across the world had increased over 5,000% and 650% respectively.
