Anti-measles campaign

A 12-day anti-measles campaign has been launched in the province of Balochistan

ABSOR, TURBAT: A 12-day anti-measles campaign has been launched in the province of Balochistan from October 15 to 26 under the supervision of the health department of the province and Unicef. The aim of the campaign is to vaccinate 2.14 million children aged from nine months to five years.

According to a report, the vaccination would be administered at 841 health facilities with the assistance of 2,417 teams and 75 mobile units. Considering that the children of Balochistan are vulnerable to measles and many have also been diagnosed with the disease, this campaign can save our future generation and hence, we — the people — should also make sure that the campaign is a success.

This step by the authorities deserves our appreciation and all parents of children under the age of five should cooperate and support the teams coming to their homes by getting their children vaccinated.

The media should also play a vital role in this campaign by creating awareness about anti-measles vaccination among people of the province. It should broadcast and publish the benefits of an anti-measles vaccination at the grassroots level.
