Rappers Drake and Kanye West used to be the best of friends but since the past few months, the two have been involved in a public feud. However, during a candid conversation in LeBron James' show The Shop, Drake revealed why there is so much bad blood between him and the Gold Digger singer.

The One Dance artist said that he felt betrayed when Kanye dropped his latest album Ye only a few weeks before Drake was supposed to release his. He added that before the album launch, the two had connected to each other in a studio. Drake claimed that Kanye pressurised him into revealing details about his album Scorpion without informing about his own music plans.

Drake continued, "He sold me on this whole speech of like, ‘I’m in a great place, I’m making money, and I’m a father, and I want to be Quincy Jones and help you. But in order to do that, you’ve got to be transparent with me, you've got to play me your music and you've got to tell me when you’re dropping. And I know you don’t like to do things like that'. I guess we all kind of felt a genuine vibe from it so I played him my music and I told him when I was dropping."

Even Kanye played a little but of his music to Drake and later invited him to Wyoming - where the former was working on his album. Drake felt something suspicious when music producer Noah Shebib arrived ahead of schedule.

The In My Feelings singer recalled, "Noah said, 'This guy is working on an album' and I was confused because Kanye had just told me that he would give me some beats. And he said that he wasn't dropping an album until October or November. But at the time, I let it go."

According to Drake, the Wyoming getaway seemed to be all about Kanye. He stated, "I went and ended up pretty much spending the majority of my time working on his music, just trying to cook up ideas for him and lend a helping hand. I spent all my time working on his music. We left with Lift Yourself and a pat on the back.”

But the 31-year-old rapper did get some time to explore his own music. He played his song March 14 to Kanye which spoke about his relationship with his one-year-old son Adison - which at the time was a secret. The two also discussed their personal lives and Drake also revealed to him that he was having trouble with Adison's mother.

It was only a few days later that news of Drake's son emerged. Following suit, Kanye and rapper Pusha T announced the release date of their albums, which was close to Drake's Scorpion.

It wasn't until Kanye dropped Lift Yourself that Drake realised he was being fooled. "He was trolling me in a manipulative way. But I just pulled away and decided to distance myself again," stated Drake.

And looking back at it, the Canadian rapper believes that leaving the battleground was a good thing. He concluded, "I feel pure, I feel good. I took that energy and I put it into myself and my work."
