FAISALABAD: A man was allegedly tortured to death by policemen in Faisalabad, Express News reported on Thursday.

The victim’s brother Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Nankana Sahib, submitted a complaint at the police station in which he stated that he and his brother, Ghulam Murtaza, and others were travelling in a truck. That is when a police team comprising Ludianwala Police Station SHO Abdul Jabbar, Sub-Inspector Khizar Hayat and Constables Mursil Nawaz, Abdul Waheed and Shabbir intercepted them.

He added that the policemen dragged Ghulam Murtaza out of the vehicle and abducted him. He said the accused police officials allegedly tortured his brother in front of them and took him to Bachiana police post.

Mustafa maintained that they also went after the policemen and reached the check post. He said they saw the cops severely beating Murtaza. He stated the policemen asked them to leave the spot and threatened them of dire consequences when they intervened.

Later, he said the accused policemen shifted the body of his brother to Jaranwala Hospital and escaped without completing legal formalities.

Ghulam Mustafa blamed the police of torturing and killing his brother and demanded authorities take stern action against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the police have registered case No 441/18 under sections 302, 109, 148 and 149 against the accused police officials and started investigations.

Earlier, a young man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kotwali police station in Jhang.

The police said Yaseen, a resident of Canal Road, kidnapped his aunt a month ago after which a case was registered. The cops had arrested the suspect a few days ago and recovered his aunt.

The police claimed Yaseen committed suicide by hanging himself using his jeans and belt in the police station’s washroom. The family, meanwhile, alleged the police killed the victim after subjecting him to severe torture.
