Meghan Markle has come a long way. From the struggles of a broken family into the glitzy world of acting and then becoming the Duchess of Sussex - that's a lot for anyone to take in. While she seems to be happy with her new royal family, going about her life and duties, her father and sister can't seem to digest her fame, reported E! Online.

This is probably because they believe they can take advantage of her position or at least that's what reports state. It's no secret that the former Suits star doesn't have the best of relationship with her family and although they have tried many a times to reconcile with her, Meghan's having none of it.

Her half-sister, Samantha Markle sees nothing wrong with it though, as she openly defended her family's attempt at making money through Meghan. "Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that's fine, but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royals and, as a family, we're not subject to royal protocol," she said.

Meghan Markle stuns Britain by shutting her own car door

This all began back in April 2017 when Samantha - who use to go by Samantha Grant - suddenly realised she should have the same surname as her half-sister as it would be good for business. She then announced she was planning a tell-all book with the working title, The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister, now In the Shadows of the Duchess.

However, Samantha isn't the only one exploiting the situation. In the days leading up to Meghan's wedding, Thomas was caught selling pictures of himself looking at photos of Meghan and Prince Harry and getting fitted for a tuxedo to the paparazzi.

Nonetheless, Samantha insisted that Thomas hadn't earned "very much" money from the photos, adding, "He was turning down $50,000 interviews - so clearly, money was not the goal. And the small amount of money that he did receive - $1,900 - the photographers made the money, not my father."

Despite being told by Harry to not speak to the press, Thomas continued to do just that, booking an exclusive chat with Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, which he got $10,000 for.
