Nawaz never claimed ownership of Al-Azizia, Hill Metal: investigation officer

Court adjourned hearing of the reference till Thursday

A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer on Wednesday testified that deposed premier Nawaz Sharif never claimed to have owned Al Azizia or the Hill Metal Establishment.

During the hearing of the Al-Azizia corruption reference, NAB's Mehboob Alam said, "no witness has said that Hussain and Hasan Nawaz supported Nawaz in establishing Hill Metal Establishment".

"No witness has said anything regarding when the Al-Azizia steel mill was established, or regarding its sponsor funding," Alam said in court.

"Nawaz has never claimed to be the owner of the companies, neither in his speeches nor in front of the Joint Investigation Team(JIT)."

During his testimony, Alam also stated that nobody from the Chaudhry Sugar mills, Hudaibiya mills and various other companies in question, who have knowledge on the matter, were included in the investigation.

The accountability court adjourned hearing of the reference till Thursday.
