Differences: Balochistan Assembly speaker quits

Bhootani quit because of serious differences with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Aslam Bhootani, who belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, stepped down on Friday over differences with the provincial chief executive Nawab Aslam Raisani.

Bhootani submitted his resignation to Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi after returning from a foreign trip on Friday. “Bhootani quit because of serious differences with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani,” sources told The Express Tribune.

Bhootani had voiced reservations over some administrative changes made by the chief minister in his home district of Lasbela allegedly on the wishes of his political opponents.“Bhootani had already conveyed his decision to the chief minister through his principal secretary when he was abroad,” sources said.

Bhootani resigned under Article 53(5) of the Constitution which shall be read with Article 127 of the Constitution.
