KARACHI: We see countless celebrities bringing their A-game to events, rocking the most stylish of ensembles. And while most of the crème de la crème of Pakistan’s showbiz industry is much talked about, there’s one diva in particular, I feel, who is much underrated.
From donning fierce suits to sporting funky athleisure, model-actor Sonya Hussyn seems to hit all the right notes when it comes to her outfits. Here are five of Sonya’s attires that prove this girl really knows what she’s doing (as does her stylist).
1. Pop of colour
This outfit is my most favourite. Sonya dons a hoody with a pencil skirt, making more than just a statement. The bright orange top over the deeper plaid skirt somehow really works.
Those sunnies give the overall look an even edgier touch and choosing to wear no jewellery unusually radiates confidence – showing that, with such a bold outfit, accessories are not necessary.
Many can go wrong with a red-hot pant suit, but not Sonya. The Azaadi actor truly embraces the Girlboss persona clad in this attire and everything from the ornamented braid to the rolled up sleeves exudes her signature nonchalant style. Pin up makeup and minimal jewellery teamed with a black v-neck completes her look, making for a powerful ensemble.
Sonya turns up the funk in this stunning sari featuring a wide-striped pallu, collared body and white petticoat. The otherwise monochrome outfit comes to life with the vibrancy of the pallu. The pinstriped blouse is one of the trendiest pieces I have ever seen, giving the outfit an edgy feel just like the disc earrings and angular sunglasses.
Although it’s a traditional silhouette, the whole vibe is quite modish and Hussyn did a great job at entwining the conventional cut with a contemporary essence.
The Moor star takes the monochrome look to a whole different level with this garb. It’s the true definition of casual smart by the pairing of a dressy shirt with sweatpants and the flared sleeves against the cuffed bottoms provide the right balance.
This is a great example of a well thought-out attire with black making minimal but welcome appearances in the form of buttons on the top and stripes on the trousers. The two separate shaded heels are genius, in my opinion, creating an edgy surprise element to the look.
Sonya proves that looking comfortable yet insanely sophisticated is possible as she sports grey culottes and a white kameez teamed with matching khussas and a plaid blazer. East meets west is the vibe I get when I look at this outfit as its a mix and match of cuts, patterns and fabrics. The round, reflective sunnies add a little something while the orange pout and straight hair complete the look.
Overall, when speaking of Sonya’s panache, words like effortless, chic and edgy come to mind. She should really stick to this laissez faire attitude, curating atypically simple ensembles which exude effortlessness, making heads turn wherever she goes.
