Police arrest gang robbing commuters under the guise of transporters

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have busted three criminal gangs and arrested 12 suspects besides recovery of a car, a bike, snatched mobile phones, cash and weapons from them.

Police said an operation was launched to arrest a gang that robbed commuters after giving them rides in their vehicles.

As a result, a total of 12 suspects were arrested and vehicles and weapons were recovered from them.

One police team arrested six suspects red-handed from Sector G-15 when they were about to commit a robbery and recovered four pistols, one Toyota Corolla Car (LEC-3112) and one motorbike from them.

They have been identified as Adnan Arif, Mohsin Ali, Noman Ali, Ali Arsalan, Nasir and Umer Ashraf. Police say the suspects had remained jail birds earlier. They confessed to committing theft in areas of Golra and Ramana police stations.

Another police team arrested Waseem, Majid, Sahib Shah who pretended to be transporters in order to loot passengers at gun point in areas of Tarnol, Shamas Colony, Sabzi Mandi and Industrial area police stations.

Meanwhile, Tarnol police busted a gang of street criminals and recovered stolen mobile phones and cash from them.

They have been identified as Pir Elahi and Abdul Rehman. During the initial interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in crimes in area of Golra, Ramna and surrounding areas. Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects and further investigation is underway.
