The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to launch nationwide protests against the arrest of the party president, Shehbaz Sharif at the hands of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Speaking to the media after a meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC), chaired by former premier Nawaz Sharif, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah on Monday said that protest demonstrations will be staged outside the national and Punjab assemblies on Wednesday if the government fails to call fresh sessions of the two houses by tomorrow.
The former Pubjab chief minister must be allowed to attend the sessions and present his case before public at the right platform, said the PML-N stalwart, adding that if the party's demands were not met then the protest would not only be contained to the assemblies but would also be carried out in the streets.
Sanaullah further said the government policies against the country's longstanding friendship with China and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would not be tolerated.

The PML-N leader said that the CEC has also decided to take other opposition parties on board in the wake of the political victimisation by the government.
Earlier in the day, the PML-N had decided to launch protests only inside the parliament against party president Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest. The decision was taken during a CEC meeting of the PML-N chaired, according to sources.
The meeting was held in Lahore's Model Town and was attended by the party’s CEC members.
