Grenade attack in Karachi injures 25

Police are investigating the blast.

KARACHI: Up to 25 people were injured in a grenade attack on a hotel on Karachi's busy Napier road early Saturday morning.

The hotel, a tea shop, is located on Thokkar street in Karachi's red light district of Napier road, is frequented by a lot of people late at night.

According to eyewitnesses, two men pulled up on a 125cc motorbike at around one am and hurled a grenade at the large number of people gathered at the hotel. The injured were being treated at Civil hospital.

Police and rangers personnel had cordoned off the affected area.

According to reports the hotel also doubles as a gambling den.

Meanwhile, IG Sindh has ordered an investigation into the attack.

He led the country down with high unemployment and corruption and mobster secret service that eliminated its people. So like >we supported Osama Bin Laden we should canonize Ghaddafi? another tyrant who has his soldiers rape and kill people should they speak against him. I forget how many Pakistanis adore another pariah Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the sinister smiling buffoon who has eliminated the rights of women and demeaned them into second class citizen where is the outrage from your types? Pakistan may be a more developed economy but that is only visible in the military and intelligence circles we are a society warped with violence at every corner and like you decide to blame our problems on Arab fanaticism. Again I ask what have you and your friends done, to date to change the virus in Pakistan?

Musthaq Ahmed | 13 years ago | Reply @Begum Zaib-unissah Hamza: Madame, Egypt is an arab country living in a narrow compass of american aid, sunni-ism suez revenues and a commission on managing Palestinian affairs. Their most idealistic agitations are run with a miserable eye on Qubz- bread , infecting people with a cunning instinct of survival. Just witness their running errands for americans in dismembering Libya. Where is arab outrage when europeans bomb an arab country to pulver? Pakistan is much more developed economy with a host of issues. Pakistan is heavily indebted for its fanaticism to Egypt , which is latters key high tech export product after potatoes.

Mirza | 13 years ago | Reply People living at army bases and DHA are safe. Only a handful of them are killed while over 35,000 common civilians and policemen are killed. Who really cares about these ordinary Pakistanis? The half a million army is there to rule the country fron the comfort of their homes and not fight the real enemies of Pakistan. They are have been a part of the army and if the time comes they can be used against India. Because army would not fight against the armed Indians.

What happened to you and the rest of the men in Pakistan, why do you not go to the streets and protest like they did in Egypt.Where are are protectors that should insist on keeping their mothers, sisters and aunts safe. Is there no one out there are the men of our nation have no backbone? It seems we are surrounded by cowardly men that have allowed their nation and their families to live a life of terror and mayhem I am impressed by the men and women of Egypt they protested on the street till change came and Mubarak was defeated I cannot understand where the heads of our younger generation. Have they decided that the status quo way of life is acceptable?

mahmood | 13 years ago | Reply I would observe that making deals with the militants or ignoring them isn't doing much for the average man on the street. Perhaps it's time to change strategies. A 500,000 man army may look good on paper but it certainly doesn't seem to intimidate these terrorist.
