Development: Give gas to Regi Model Town, CM tells SNGPL

Says piped gas will help reduce cutting of trees for firewood

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed authorities to immediately complete the extension of Sui gas supply to Regi Model Town.

He was talking to Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Peshawar general manager at Chief Minister Secretariat.

CM said that he would soon inaugurate the town. He further directed to complete Swat Sui gas transmission line to stop use of timber firewood as fuel for domestic consumption adding it would also bring to an end the cutting of trees in the entire Malakand division.

On the occasion, CM was briefed by General Manager Peshawar SNGPL, Arbab Saqib about the company’s activities for different gas supply schemes throughout the province. He was informed about the near completion of Swat transmission line.

He revealed that new discoveries of gas have been made in Karak that would enhance the royalty of the province up to Rs600 million.

The chief minister directed for the expedited completion of both the schemes, adding that the extension of Sui gas to Matta Swat would protect forests. He directed General Manager to stop sui gas pilferage andtheft assured him help and cooperation of government to resolve the problems of the sui northern gas company.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Lower Dir led by MPA Shafiullah called on chief minister and informed him about the law and order situation, administrative problems and land disputes of the area. He also requested CM to resolve them.
