Customs Court Judge Arshad Bhutta was hearing the case.

“Ayyan has failed to appear before the court,” the judge remarked.

The judge also rejected an appeal filed by the defendant’s counsel to adjourn the case.

The court ordered Ayyan to be present in court for the next hearing scheduled for October 22.

Customs prosecutor Amin Feroz apprised the judge that the accused had remained constantly absent in as many as 50 proceedings.

Currency smuggling case: Arrest warrants for Ayyan Ali issued, again

In 2015, Ayyan was arrested at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates carrying $506,800 without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan. She was sent to jail and the government put her name on the Exit Control List (ECL). But she subsequently left for Dubai after she was released on bail and a court ordered the removal of her name from the ECL.

Amir | 5 years ago | Reply Why in the first place court ordered her release and than removal from ECL? Ask the judge first Everyone knew the moment she is out she will be whisked away. Just look at the list of people who visited when she was in jail. She was a beneficiary of charter of democracy. Again one more loosing moment for Pakiatan
