Five sentenced to death in double murder case in Mandi Bahauddin

Convicts had killed couple for marrying of their own will

A sessions court awarded death sentence to five accused for their involvement in a double murder case in Malakwal. The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Mumtaz.

The prosecution told the court that accused Munawwar Iqbal, Manzoor Ahmed, Muhammad Irfan, Shaukat Ali and Mansha had gunned down a couple Safdar Iqbal and Yasmeen for marrying of their own will.

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to the five convicts along with a fine of Rs0.5 million which would be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased. The court also ordered that the convicts will have to undergo six years additional imprisonment if they failed to pay the penalty.

Earlier, a court awarded death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha. Additional District and Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmed Shaikh announced the verdict.

Convict Ramzan and his accomplices Zaman and Yar had killed Shahid over a dispute in 2014. The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Ramzan along with a fine of Rs0.53 million.
